RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". According to Wikipedia, "RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts". Users can view web pages in an 'automated manner' instead of checking them manually.

Most newspapers have RSS feeds so that you can view articles relating to the your topic of interest. I subscribe to the New York Times Education RSS Feed.
